Ghana Research & Study Tour
This program ended in 2019
The VIU GRST in an international field school offered through VIU's World Leisure Centre of Excellence and the Department of Recreation and Tourism Management. Operating since 2011, this program offers students and opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a cross-cultural global context.
Working directly with community partners, Dr. Weighill and the student participants help to address tourism development and research related needs. Since the beginning the primary community partner has been the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary and in 2019 the team visited Atsiekpoe in the Volta Region for the first time. Travel logistics are handled by Jolinaiko Eco Tours in Accra. |
